I’m a wife and mom. For most of my life I’ve been interested in police & firefighters. I don’t really remember when my fascination began. My interest just sort of crept in and made itself comfortable. This interest in first responders has slowly grown into a passion. Over the past couple of years God allowed several things to fall into place.
#1 I stumbled upon a police scanner app and began listening to it on my phone (the app includes local police, fire, & EMS.)
#2 I learned about the Police Citizens Academy and the Fire Citizens Academy from a friend.
#3 After the citizens academy, what started as a strong fascination and interest with first responders quickly turned into an obsession.
#4 I seriously started looking into ways I could get my foot in the door of emergency responders.
So one day I talked with an acquaintance who said they would gladly take my help at the volunteer fire department (VFD). Best part of all, I could help as much as I wanted and work around my existing responsibilities. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but a few weeks later I went to a VFD meeting, filled out an application, and thus begins my story.
