Scott Runkel is a Leutenant Fire-fighter and Paramedic with the Alplaus fire department, located in Schenectady County, in Upstate NY, where he has been a member since 2003. Scott has spent time in Erie, PA as a fire-fighter during his college years, where he received a BA in Criminal Justice and Federal Law Enforcement from Mercyhurst College in 2005. Since then, Scott has been working for Mohawk Ambulance service since 2006. Starting as an EMT, Scott went back to school in summer of 2007 and received his Paramedic degree from SUNY Cobleskill and maintains his Paramedic status with the Mohawk Paramedic Service. Scott recently finished his Masters degree in Medical Missionary through Davis Bible College, and frequents the Central American Country Belize, where he supports the Belize Mission and Retreat Center at Turtle Shores. Scott has also purchased land close to the missions base and plans to build a small medical station there for the missions base and nearby village of Gales Point. In November of 2009 Scott began working at the Albany memorial Hospital, where he works directly alongside Physicians in treating patients and performing medical procedures. During the summer months from the end of May until the end of September, Scott works at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) an amphitheater located within the New York State Park at Saratoga and summer home to the New York City Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra, along with several popular rock bands.
When Scott isn't working one of his 4 jobs, he's volunteering his time with other local fire departments and once a year travels down to America's Gulf Coast to help run FIRE and EMS calls with the West Hancock Fire and Rescue Department (www.westhancockfirerescue.org) located in Pearlington, Mississippi. Scott is just one of the many volunteers connected with the Hancock Hope Organization, created by Dan Mackajena.
